My journal is bent
My journal was bent by the mail carrier — what can I do?
It’s a recurring issue, but a rare one (less than 0.5% of our shipments), and we’re trying to fix it in every possible way. Unfortunately, there’s no magic solution (at least not one we've found yet 😉).
This issue is mainly caused by the mail carrier, who folds large envelopes — out of habit or convenience.
We’ve talked to several mail carriers and they all agree: the best way to prevent this is to clearly and visibly write on the envelope that it must not be folded.
We’ve been doing this, and we’ve seen a big drop in cases since then. 📉
Sometimes the issue comes from the mailbox itself — when it’s not big enough to fit the envelope flat.
Another option would be to use cardboard or padded envelopes.
We’ve chosen not to go down that route because it would significantly increase costs — for both packaging and shipping.
We estimate the extra cost at €3–4, which would force us to raise the price of your journals. 💸
And even then, it’s not 100% effective. Our Premium journals are already shipped in bubble envelopes and are semi-rigid… and some still get bent by the carrier. 😕
What you can do:
Since the issue mostly comes from the mail carrier, the most effective solution is to talk to them directly:
👋 If you see them in the street, kindly explain the problem and how disappointed you were to receive your beautiful journal damaged.
From experience, this really helps!
Another option is to file a complaint with your local post office.
If you do that, let us know (via chat or email), so we can file one too.
We can also reprint journals that were bent — but ideally only once the issue has been resolved.
